Project updates & privacy

Updated 4 November 2026

What you are subscribing to

Occasional emails about new worlds, features and updates to this independent, unofficial Stargate fan project. Subscribing is optional and is never required to explore. Clicking “Keep me updated” subscribes you directly; no confirmation email is sent.

What is stored

Your email address, signup time, the form used (welcome page, menu or travel invitation), the version of the consent text, and a hashed unsubscribe key. The project creator manages this private list. Addresses are not displayed publicly, sold or used to create an individual exploration history.

Where it is stored

The list is held in a server-side Cloudflare D1 database connected to the site’s hosting. Only the site’s subscription service and authorized project administration can access it. The public site does not provide a way to read or export the list.

Unsubscribe and delete

Use the private unsubscribe link for a signup made in this browser. If you subscribed elsewhere, keep your original link; submitting again never replaces an earlier subscription or its private key. Save that link; this browser also remembers it when local storage is available. Unsubscribing removes your address and its subscription record from the active database. Future project emails will include an unsubscribe link. Manage the subscription saved on this browser.

Browser storage and abuse protection

This browser remembers that you subscribed and may retain your private unsubscribe link. A session preference prevents repeated invitations during a visit. No email address is saved in browser storage. To limit automated submissions, the server temporarily stores short-lived, hashed network identifiers and request counts; it does not save raw IP addresses in the subscription database. Expired anti-abuse records are cleared on subsequent requests.

Retention

The subscription record is kept for project updates until you unsubscribe or the mailing list is discontinued. No mailing campaigns or tracking pixels are activated by this signup form.

Visit statistics

To improve the experience, the site records anonymous session events: pages, broad referral category, device mode, coarse device/browser/system families, approximate country supplied by hosting when available, worlds visited, completed journeys, quality settings, frame-time summaries, errors, newsletter form interactions and sharing or support clicks. An ephemeral random identifier groups a visit in this tab; it is not a persistent identity and is never linked to an email address. Country is approximate, may reflect a VPN, and is not GPS location. No full user-agent string, full referring URL, raw IP address, typed text, controller position or headset pose is stored in analytics.

Statistics are processed in the site's private database. Detailed events are kept for a rolling 90-day window, with progressive cleanup on later requests. Daily anonymous newsletter totals remain for project reporting. Short-lived hashed network buckets limit abusive requests and expire after two minutes, with cleanup on subsequent requests.

You can disable visit statistics here. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are also respected. Disabled statistics do not affect exploration or newsletter subscription.

Supporting the project

If a support link is available, it opens Buy Me a Coffee, which processes any payment under its own terms. This site records the outgoing click, not payment details or donor identity.
