Your VR controls

Enter VR: select Explore in VR at the top of this page and accept the headset prompt. You arrive directly in Atlantis, ready to explore. An expedition guide on the right wall shows the essential controls: approach it, point and press the trigger for more help. You can also squeeze either side grip with your middle finger and select Controls.

Open or close the gate: with the menu closed, press either index-finger trigger. When aiming at a physical console, the trigger selects its button instead. Walk into the open gate to travel.

Show the menu: squeeze the side grip with your middle finger. Squeeze again to hide it. If the menu is behind you or out of reach, a grip press recalls it in front of you, 2.6 metres away. It stays where you placed it while you move or turn. Choose Continue exploring, Controls, Settings or Exit VR. Point the white cursor at a button and press the trigger. Sound, height, walking speed and lighting are in Settings.

Left thumbstick: walk in the direction you look. Stairs on both sides of each gate and the main staircase work automatically. Right thumbstick: turn in 30° steps; release between turns.

Trigger, index finger: point at a menu button and press to select. With the menu closed, the trigger opens or closes the gate. On the Atlantis control gallery, point at Open or Close on the first console and press the trigger.

Height: the default standing height is 180 cm. Stand naturally when entering VR. To adjust it later, open Height & speed and choose Recalibrate now. Calibration preserves natural crouching and head movement. Choose Headset floor to use the Quest floor tracking without a height correction. Walking speed offers Gentle, Walk and Brisk.

Touch the wormhole: wait for the gate to open, approach with the left stick and put either or both controllers into the surface. Ripples, liquid sound and controller vibration follow your gestures where haptics are supported.

Your gloves: Hold your controllers naturally: the gloves rest around the handles. Rest your index finger on the trigger to bend it, or lift it to point. Your thumb follows contact with the stick, buttons and thumb rest on supported Touch controllers. No click is needed for these finger movements. Squeeze the side grip to tighten the grasp; pressing it also shows or hides the menu. These are controller animations, not bare-hand tracking. Glove model credits.

Travel: open the gate and walk through it to follow the loop: Atlantis → ship in Earth orbit → Stargate Command → Atlantis. Each journey takes about seven seconds. Look around freely during travel; joystick movement resumes on arrival. Only your head crossing the gate starts travel, so reaching in with your hands will not send you through.

Exit VR returns to this page. Gate sounds: CAP sources and credits. Wormhole travel: CAP travel audio. SG-1 composition: CAP SG-1 sounds. Hyperspace sound credits.
